Title: Installing over an older PRC
Post by: Kesnit on September 06, 2009, 08:58:59 PM
I have PRC 3.2 and would like to get 3.3 However, I seem to remember that in order to change the version, I had to uninstall NWN1, delete the mods, reinstall NWN1, replace the mods, and then install the PRC. On the other hand, that doesn't seem right, so maybe I dreamed having to go through everything.

Can I just install 3.3 over 3.2, or do I have to go through all the rigmarole?

You can just drop the haks overtop. But you need to restart any game you've got saved to get the new content.

I kn ow installing the PRC itself is easy enough, but to install it in a specific module, don't you have to start with a fresh (non PRC) copy and reinstall PRC into the module?  Strat, your response seems to suggest that this is no longer true.

You only need to reinstall into a module if the contents of the PRC erf have changed. Otherwise, all the material called is the material in the haks. We haven't changed the erf content in some little time.

I believe another reason to reinstall into a module is if the PRC installer created a custom merged hak or tlk file. In particular, a number of PRC tlk changes and additions have been made in the 3.3g release--getting these into the merged tlk file means reinstalling PRC into the module.
