Help / Heartwarder Domains
« on: April 17, 2010, 01:05:20 PM »
I have a Spellfire Channeler and I wish to add the Heartwarder PrC (more charisma = better spellfire ability DC), and in figuring out the right base class for this mix I find myself having a beef with the domain requirements.

You decided that the "must worship Sune" sourcebook requirement is best translated to NWN as "must select two out of three domains".Can that be changed into something more harmless, for example by making a character select a special "Sune Worshipper" feat at character creation? It would work pretty much like the Disciple of Darkness feat.

You'd lose one feat at the beginning, yes. The problem with a double domain requirement means *any* divine caster that doesn't receive domains is unable to become a Heartwarder.. which actually means nearly all divine casters. I do understand the need for PrC restrictions, it just seems to me like this one is a little unfair to non-cleric divine spellcasters. They can come in handy too.

Base Classes / Commoner?
« on: April 16, 2010, 05:15:36 AM »
This is kind of weird. I used TlkEdit yesterday and it worked. Today I can extract the 2da and reimport an edited version, but TlkEdit won't save the hak. It simply states that the file couldn't be saved, very odd.

I'm using Windows Vista. Is there anything else that will do the job of importing the new 2da?

I just noticed I do get to select it during levelup, like you said. Any chance it can be made to activate in the prc character creator?

I extracted, edited the file and put it back, but the class doesn't appear in the character editor.

Base Classes / Commoner?
« on: April 13, 2010, 11:38:24 AM »
I was wondering if the Commoner (NPC) base class might ever see the light of day. Purely for roleplaying and stuff. It obviously wouldn't be for the powergamer. For example, you could play the poor, weak farmer girl that decides to embrace adventure after discovering she can wield spellfire. Or a miller, having lost his family in times of war, decides to make a demonic pact with Baalzebul.

It's not a strong argument for adding another base class, but I'm hoping it would take so little effort to create that that won't really matter.

Has anyone ever seen a good Warforged player model for NWN?

I understand. Normally speaking, if they do change in a new release, it will be mentioned somewhere?

Hi. I'm a bit new to PRC. It seems I installed an older version two weeks ago. Can I just install this one on top of it?

I'd rather not completely reinstall NWN. I'm not very skilled, so it was hard enough to tweak it right the first time.

Character Builds / PRC Strategy Guide (And Help Request)
« on: April 04, 2010, 12:32:41 PM »
Hello. I'd like to request some help.

I'm new to PRC, a friend helped me install it last week. I've played NWN1 and 2 before and I always found the class options a bit.. limited. Now I suddenly find myself overwhelmed with the possibilities.

I want to play a unique character, so let me give you a better description of what I think of as unoriginal characters. Sorry for lumping a lot of classes together like this, but it's the only way I can make sense of it.

------

Charracters attack physically and/or ranged. Which can be further devided in:
 - hitting with melee weapons
 - casting touch-attack magic
and
 - casting ranged magic
 - firing ranged weapons

Further down the road there are:
 - Cast a summon that does some or all of the above.
 - Perform any of the above from a sneaking/invisible status, do extra damage.
 - Cast something that enhances your ability to do any of the above.
 - Cast something that decreases others' abilities to do any of the above.

------

So that must likely sum up 90% of all (prestige)classes out there. What I've plucked out of the regular D&D games like the NWN series so far always seemed to come down to rudementary combinations of casters, rogues and fighters.

The only class I've ever come across in a D&D game (heck, any RPG game) that didn't seem to subscribe to any of these categories was from one of the NWN2 expansions. The Hellfire warlock. It has an ability that lets your attacker receive damage whenever it hits you. That completely turns everything upside down.

So.. I am looking for advice on a PRC class build that allows for really unique gameplay. Perhaps I'm the only one to feel this way, but I so often get the feeling that I've *done it all before*. I realize am being awfully picky so I'll understand if there's simply nothing for me out there.
