Builders / PRC Pliugin for NWNx
« on: March 12, 2016, 05:39:29 PM »
What's the feasibility of the PRC being redone to use a plugin for NWNx for some of the scripting in the system?

I'm not asking if this is something that will be done so keep that in mind. It would be a large undertaking but I figure it would, in some ways, be more stable? I'm just looking for thoughts from those working on the PRC at the moment and what they think of the idea.

Builders / New PRC Classes - Looking for Help
« on: September 13, 2013, 06:12:56 PM »
Hello!

I'm working on creating a few new PRC classes for a persistent world server I'm working on. The first class I'm working on is the Night Mask Deathbringer. I'm likely to work in the Swiftblade I suggested elsewhere as well as a custom Fallen Stars Pirate prc. The write-up on the Night Mask Deathbringer class can be found here- http://dndtools.eu/classes/night-mask-deathbringer/

So far, I've gotten all of the abilities to work, to a point. Right now I don't have Lesser and Greater Blood Bond checking the number of bonds against the charisma bonus but I'll get that done. I've had two errors so far and was wondering if anyone would know how to fix them.

The first error is cosmetic it seems. The class gets a bonus +2d6 sneak attack. After finding the prc_inc_sneak script I added the following-

Code: [Select]
   // Night Mask Deathbringer
   iClassLevel = GetLevelByClass(CLASS_TYPE_DEATHBRINGER, oPC);
   if (iClassLevel) iRogueSneak += iClassLevel / 4;

When I level up past the levels that are supposed to grant the sneak dice, I see two feats for sneak attack, one saying 3d6 which is what rogue sneak is without the bonus from the class then another that says +5d6 which is 5 levels of rogue and 8 levels (+2d6) of Night Mask Deathbringer. In tests it seems the damage is 5d6 as it should be. Any way to adjust the cosmetic part of this?

And speaking of leveling, I'm getting a 'Too many instructions' error on leveling up the class that's being reported as caused by the prc_levelup script. Obviously the script itself is fine as I didn't adjust it at all. I'm figuring the error is either in my prc_nmdb script or the prc_inc_function script which I edited for the sake of the class.

Here is the short amount of code for the PRC to give the Creature of Darkness penalty to ride. I patterned it after the prc_heartwarder script and it is labeled prc_nmdb-

Code: [Select]
#include "prc_feat_const"
#include "inc_item_props"

//Creature of Darkness (Ex): Animals can sense the death in you, causing them to fear your presence.
//As a result, all animals except for bats, rats, and wolves have their initial attitudes moved down
//one category when you first approach them. In addition, you take a —2 penalty on all Ride checks due
//to the beast's inherent nervousness at your presence.

void CreatureOfDarkness(object oPC, object oSkin, int iLevel)
  {
    int iTest = GetPersistantLocalInt(oPC, "NWNX_NMDBCoDark");

    if(!iTest)
     {
      SetCompositeBonus(oSkin, "CreatureOfDarkness", iLevel, ITEM_PROPERTY_DECREASED_SKILL_MODIFIER, SKILL_RIDE);
     }
  }

void main()
  {
   object oPC = OBJECT_SELF;
   object oSkin = GetPCSkin(oPC);

   int iCreatDark = GetHasFeat(FEAT_CREATURE_OF_DARKNESS, oPC) ? 2 : 0;

   if (iCreatDark > 0)   CreatureOfDarkness(oPC, oSkin, iCreatDark);

  }

As for the prc_inc_function script, it's much too large to post here but I'll post the lines before as well as the changes I've made to the script.

In the switch table for SetupCharacterData function-
Code: [Select]
                case CLASS_TYPE_WARMIND:               sScript = "psi_warmind";      iData |= 0x01; break;
                case CLASS_TYPE_WEREWOLF:              sScript = "prc_werewolf";                    break;
                case CLASS_TYPE_WILDER:                                              iData |= 0x01; break;
                case CLASS_TYPE_WITCH:                                               iData |= 0x03; break;
                case CLASS_TYPE_DEATHBRINGER:          sScript = "prc_nmdb";                        break;

Added to the gathering of functions for feat uses per day-
Code: [Select]
void FeatNMDeathbringer(object oPC)
{
   int iNMDBLevel = GetLevelByClass(CLASS_TYPE_DEATHBRINGER, oPC);
   if (!iNMDBLevel) return;

   int iUses = (iNMDBLevel + 2) / 3;
   FeatUsePerDay(oPC, FEAT_HESITATING_STARE,  -1, iUses);

}

added to the FeatSpecialUsesPerDay function-
Code: [Select]
    FeatNMDeathbringer(oPC);

I've edited a number of 2da files such as feat.2da, spells.2da, classes.2da, prc_classes.2da, and prc_spells.2da. Includes edited are prc_class_const, prc_feat_const, prc_inc_function, prc_inc_sneak, and prc_spell_const. additions to the tlk file have been successful as well. Any ideas as to why this might be happening?

Builders / Bad STRREF with ToB Classes
« on: June 25, 2013, 10:19:19 AM »
Ok, here's the situation. I've been working on a persistent world module for some time. Originally, I had the PRC set up and functioning completely. I had a hard drive failure and had reinstall. I re-cached the DB and it looked to complete successfully. Since the re-install I'm now getting bad strref whenever I try to select Tome of Battle stances or maneuvers with a ToB class (tested with warblade).

The only thing that has changed by my memory is that I've had to download new dlls since I didn't have them backed up and reinstalling NWN and NWNx. Anyone that might know what's causing this bug? I believe that bad strref usually means it's not reading some .2da, talk file or another file but I'm not certain on this one.

Other Features / Vampire Template- Work In Progress
« on: November 25, 2012, 12:50:19 AM »
I'm planning on running a PRC server based around the city of Westgate and as anyone that knows about the city knows that vampires are important.

So, I've decided to work on the vampire template. Using the other templates as, well, templates, I've begun working on this. I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer and some requests for suggestions on implementation.

I'm using the SRD entry for the vampire template found here. Is this the best one or does someone know of another that would be more suitable?

templates.2da
-What's the purpose of the type column?
-In the tlk table, I see the other entries for the templates are around 16847646. Empty rows start at 16847652. Would it be safe to add entries starting at that point?
-Same for feats.2da and I believe spells.2da(though I haven't looked at it yet). There is reserved space for templates in the file but I was wondering if there are any currently being worked on or is it safe to use the next ones in line?
-What's the story on the Marker Feats? Other than what the name would suggest, them being markers, what are they used for in a little detail?

Implementation
-Gaseous Form- Since it's really not possible due to limitations of the engine, should I leave it out or just give an option to change appearance to say a vampiric mist or something similar? I'm trying to figure out what should be done about turning into gaseous form upon reaching 0 hit points as well. Should that just be omitted?

Blood Drain
A vampire can suck blood from a living victim with its fangs by making a successful grapple check. If it pins the foe, it drains blood, dealing 1d4 points of Constitution drain each round the pin is maintained. On each such successful attack, the vampire gains 5 temporary hit points.

I believe this ability is once a round like the vampire shape for shifters. Question here is, I'm thinking of making it a feat. I've seem mention of grapple mainly in the Tome of Battle stuff. Is there something implemented already for grapple that can be referenced so its being used in a unified manner? I'm going to tie in the Create Spawn into this and I'm considering a consent conversation for the victim when they're drained to 0 constitution, mainly to lessen griefing on persistent worlds.

That's all I can think of now. I've gotten a good portion of the rest of it done by looking at and borrowing code from the other templates and preexisting vampire abilities. I hope I can finish this and submit it for addition.

General Discussion / Swiftblade- A Possibility?
« on: October 02, 2012, 10:35:34 PM »
What are the possibilities of seeing a conversion of the swiftblade class found here on the WoTC site? I can see how a number of the abilities might be difficult to fit into NWN.
