Mind Thayer Necromancer  “Necro-potence”

Human shifted Illithid betrayer, True Neutral, Wiz 5 /  Red Wiz of Thay 30 / Archmage 5

Stats:  Base [Race + Mods]

Pro’s: High (~73) Necro caster level, High (~ 46 / 52 + Spell Lev) Necro DC, 44th level caster, high SR race, Master of Elements & Shapes, 5 base epic spells, True Neutral (no Smites), skill points

Cons: Two prohibited schools, weak v. constructs (et. al. neg en immune), garbage Fort save, 1 dimensional build, ~0 melee presence, mediocre AC, Spell Power DC bonus does NOT apply to Tolodine’s Killing Wind (DC should be 66 with Necro bonuses) :(, Shaped Anti-Magic Shell (aka Antimagic Field) rarely works

Necro Caster Stack: d20 + 44 (caster) + 15 (Spell Power: Necro) + 6 (ESpell-Foc) + 4 (Foc-Spell Pen: Necro) + 1 (Tattoo: Necro) = d20 + 70 (v. 67 for L40 Rakshasa, 70 for L40 Max SR monk)

Notes:

1) Good Necro SLA candidates are: Wail (area Fort neg death), Horrid Wilt (area 25d8 Fort half damage), Maximized Undeath to Death (area kill 80 HD undead, Will neg), Empowered Finger o’ Death (single target Fort death or [made save] 1.5*3d6 + 44 damage), Avascular Mass (drain half single target hp [no save] + [Fort neg] stun + area entangle DC check)
2) If you battle opponents with more than 70 SR, add more Archmage Spell Power’s. 70 SR is max for the uber class: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Improved_spell_resistance
3) Insightful Reflexes was added for a test-drive. Remove with PRC Leto if it doesn’t suit your taste.
4) If you don’t like Necro – use the PRC Leto to change the specialty

6) Minor snafu with AB. You can bump using dm_modifyattack base 1, but it won’t stick.
7) Cast shaped Anti-Magic Shell (AMS, aka Antimagic Field) on everyone but you, then Necro-away. Sometimes AMS works, most of the time it doesn’t :@

I know this is a very big bump but I have a problem relevant to this thread.

When advancing in red wizard of thay class I do not get any new spells. But your uploaded character has a lot of spells. Am I doing something wrong?

That depends, what is your base arcane spellcasting class? Wizard, Sorcerer?

Unless the prestige class specifically says that you gain new spells known when you level up in that class, like Cerebremancer, then you will only gain an increase in spells per day and caster level for your base class.

If it is a Wizard, then you have to learn your spells from spell scrolls, if it is anything else, then you need to level up your base class to get your spells.

Yes my base class is wizard. It had not crossed my mind that I could learn spells from scrolls.

EDIT: For the Thayan Lich Necromancer build. You might want to check that you need to take craft wondrous item feat at level 11.
