I downloaded the Character Creator for Windows after doing a fresh reinstall of NWN and PRC, When I try to Run The CC1.8 It starts to Load up the TLKs and then does nothing. I tried to re download it but got the same results.

I am using windows 7.

Any Idea how to fix this?

Something I have noticed is when I open the mod in the toolset No temp file shows up in my module folder. Could this have anything to do with the problems I am having?

Did you run toolset as administrator (ie. can it write to the disk)?

Could you copy the code below to Notepad and save it as RUN_CC.cmd? Put this file in the same folder as cc.jar, and then run Character Creator through this script - it should create a log file in the same directory. Maybe it will give more info about your problem.
Code: [Select]
start javaw -Xmx200M -Xms200M -jar CC.jar > cc.log 2>&1

I ran the toolset as Administrator and the temp0 file is back. I will add the script as you said and let you know what it says later when I get home from work. :)

I recently got an error when trying to run a fresh install of the PRC character creator. It reported I was missing Chitin.key

I am having what appears to be the same problem.  The character creator worked fine until I tried associating the PRC haks to it.  Now it starts loading the TLKs and then disappears.  Win7, 32-bit java.  I tried doing the .cmd above and running that and it tells me that it can't find javaw.  I don't know what that's supposed to mean, it's certainly finding SOMETHING for Java because like I said it can run fine without the PRC haks - it DOES write the BIC file to localvault.  It's just with the PRC haks that it blows up.  So it is a PRC problem.

aaaaaand problem solved.  Having JUST the prc_race and prc_2das haks associated, plus the custom tlk, gets it working right.

I did not see anywhere any specific instructions about what haks to associate or not so I had to figure this out by trial and error.  I did see references to a readme file, which as far as I can tell does not exist anywhere in any of the archives I downloaded.  So that might be something to clarify.

Thank you for the fix, now if I can only get the normal NWN stuff to show up in the creator I will be set.

I've gotten that missing chitin.key message when I've switched the location of the NWN directory when I installed NWN Complete edition and didn't go into settings and corrected the NWN directory field. At the moment, my NWN directory is C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\ but it can be a number of different directories depending on where it was installed.

Yes I did move my NWN directory right before  I got that error. I went in and fixed that directory, still cant see normal NWN stuff but I can at least make characters with PRC classes now. Thank you for all your help so far.  :)

Update: I think I may have solved this partially by accident, What i did was right click on the exe file, selected properties, then selected compatibility, under that i clicked the box for compatability mode and made sure it was set for windows xp service pack 2, under the settings section of the next grouping of boxes I selected Run as Admin. Presto  ;D

I am having the same problem, but not the Windows version but the Mac OS version. I have both Windows and Mac versions of NWN and the Character Creator for Windows is working without problem. But the Character Creator for Mac does nothing after loading .tlk files. PRC itself working fine on Mac version of NWN.

My Macintosh is a rather old Macbook (2008 early) and running Mac OS 10.6.8
