It seems the alternate spell system casters all lack defensive casting mode. I'm sure of this with at least the warlock, psion, and dragon shaman. I know nothing about module work, but since the only workaround I've had so far is to take a level of an original casting class, it made me wonder if a workaround would be to simply give the class some useless cantrip in the standard system? If you don't want to or can't create a custom spell for this, just make it something that is kinda pointless, like light or... just about any noncombat cantrip available to the sorceror.

Unfortunately it's tied to taking a class level in one of the bioware casting base classes. Nothing else grants the ability.

FWIW, the PRC-Leto Feat add nuts and bolts (items 3 thru 6) is here:

Def Casting looks like Feat # 3543.

Any feat above about 1200 or so is a PRC feat, not a Bioware one.

Not just plain ole Def Casting - it's Combat Medic Def Casting!

NWN / B-ware:

PRC
http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/class_feats/3543.html

PRC Combat Medic Def Cast had same text as WotC (page 101):
https://the-eye.eu/public/Books/rpg.rem.uz/Dungeons%20%26%20Dragons/D%26D%203.5/Heroes%20of%20Battle.pdf

Did WotC bleep up using the name 'Def Casting' again? Should have known Bioware and / or previous WotC cannon already had the exact same name.

FWIW, Bioware Combat Casting is Feat #7 and Imp CC is #696.

Combat Casting is something else. Defensive Casting is a mode, not a feat, and doesn't have access to it via normal means even for custom content.
