Author Topic: The PRC runs in NWN2???  (Read 9524 times)

I'm sorry but I don't know how to run the PRC into the original campaing of NWN 2 and in the MoTB...
Anyone can helps me please??? Thanks

At one point there was a group of people (called the PRG) who were working on creating a version of the PRC for NWN 2, but the last I  heard, that project was not yet complete.  I suppose there would be an announcement on this forum if it were complete, so my guess is it must not be.  NWN 2 is not as friendly to custon content as NWN 1, so something as elaborate as the PRC is difficult to transfer into that environment.

As it is, the PRC cannot be made to run into NWN2.  If someone else is working on it that is up to them, but we will not be porting it over.

The "group" currently consists of one person; I've been looking for help in completing the conversion, for what it's worth. Also, I find that NWN2 is actually more CC friendly in many respects compared to NWN1, since several different aspects of the NWN1 PRC require external tools to be able to use some PRC content in NWN1. For example, you cannot create a character using a PRC-added playable race or a PRC added base class in game in NWN1; you can do so in NWN2. And, as of NWN2 patch 1.23, there is no longer a need for anything like the Convo-CC (Conversational Character Creator, I believe) or the override folder, to use custom content at character creation in multiplayer.

I know this wasn't the point of your post, but it is actually possible to choose a non-bioware base class and race when joining a server. I've done it. It's just not supported by NWN unless through external means. I'm surprised no one has written a side-by-side tool for NWN to select new classes/races when joining.

The people who could do it are the NWNx developers, but they won't. The potential for cheating in MP that it would create would be a nightmare for persistent worlds. And as is, a persistent world needs an elaborate ELC script to check all new characters, even on a server vault server with ELC turned on (unless they are using the convocc, which does prevent most of the exploits that a custom ELC script checks for).

That's a very good point. If I ever decided to release something in that direction, I would probably post a public message a month or two in advance so that servers could take the necessary preventive measures. Not that I am doing that... I don't enjoy doing RE work.

So is this the reason why the PRC has an enforced "override character appearance" switch? Because it's possible to change character appearances to non-standard ones in much the same way.

Many of the switches were requests from module or persistent world builders, i think that was one of them :)
