Title: Dread necromancer training issue

Hello all.

I just started the OC Prelude with the Dread Necromancer but I'm stuck in the training. Does anyone knows what trainer should I speak with in order to complete it and eventually open the door where Aribeth is waiting?

Wizard/Sorc training is the one you do or you can try one of the others the OC is not picky at which you complete. I recall doing fighter training as a Wizard at one point.

You did install the OC fix after adding the PRC?

I'm installing right now. Should I say yes when PRC asks me if I want to replace files during installation process?

It comes with the PRC, try running the module updater.

I did run the module updater.  I clicked to update every module but the demos.  I told it to overwrite everything.

I just reinstalled the PRC and have the module updater running again (having it re-overrite files).  I can see where it is updating the different chapters.

Is there something else I need to do?


NOTE:  I have NWN gold with HotU.  Patched to 1.69.  PRC 3.3H_RC2

Look on the left side of the module updater's window.

You need to run module updater directly (double click on 'PRCModuleUpdater.exe', do not use desktop/start menu  links). Next under 'Select content you would like to install:' select prc_ocfix and choose your OC modules.

Here is what I have happening.

Class Dread Necromancer.

I complete the combat trial, but my log says I need to complete my class specific trials.  Can't get to Aribeth.

Can't do Mage trial as none of the DN spells kill the statue (and the Gnome says I am not a spell caster).

Can't complete the cleric/druid trial as I have no way to heal the sick guy.

Thiefs trial goes without saying that I can't do.


So what is the DN suppose to do to complete the training?

NOTE:  This is a fresh install of NWN Gold, HotU, patched to 1.69, PRC 3.3H_RC2.

You need to destroy the statue in mage trial. With ocfix installed you can cast any spell on it (inflict light wounds will do), and it will be destroyed. The trial is completed than.

Do you know that when you run the EXE version from the download, that left hand window is not present for the module updater.

I went into the PRC folder in the NWN folder and launched it from there and got the option for the OC fix.

Yes, I was talking about exe in installation folder :P

oc_fix is only for OC, but it won't break other modules if installed. Simply won't be used :P

Funny, it has been a few years since I played NWN.  I still had the old PRC and CC.  I uninstalled and reinstalled so that I could use the latest and greatest PRC (great additions).  Can't get the latest CC to work, but the old version seems to be doing fine.

Well it worked.  Game sees DN as a mage type and I was able to finish trial (though it took ray of enfeeblement as the other spells didn't break statue).  I'm bummed that the wand of frost doesn't work for the DN.
