Prestige Classes / Soul Eater
« on: March 06, 2011, 02:27:34 PM »
I was wondering, if I choose a prestige class that will allow my racial type to be changed through a normal or spell-like ability, will it qualify for the Soul Eater class? I'm thinking mainly of the shape shifter (PNP) here..

What about spells that change my racial type?

AFAIK all are creature. But then I could be horribly wrong.

I didn't have the main page bookmarked, so it took me a few days to notice the message on the front page.

I'm very sorry to hear that things have come to an end, but happy and grateful for the many years of work that have been put into the NWN PRC. I agree about the community having moved on, but I wish the project could have received a proper ending. Not one that's on the edge with the beta 3.4 release and an outdated manual.

I hope some capable hands will eventually tie up the loose ends so the NWN PRC can be finally put to rest in Google's eternal archives.

I would guess creature, unless you turn into something that carries a weapon?

Ah, I see. I am mostly familiar with 3.5 naturally..

Thanks for clearing that up.

I was wondering, is there a list somewhere of active Persistent Worlds that run the PRC in some fashion or another?

So you retain your old AC bonus also? Through a Monks's Wisdom to AC or perhaps even armor?

Edit: I guess I want to know how much being darkly discorporated is like this: http://eberronunlimited.wikidot.com/invocation:dark-discorporation
Alignment based damage for the swarm attack means it bypasses ordinary damage reduction, right?

I was wondering, does the invocation Dark Discorporation change your type and template to Swarm? There is information on Bat Swarms on the SRD, but I don't know how far that has been adopted. All the invocation description talks about is an increase in dexterity (and the Charisma based AC bonus).

Let's for example say that I have Cleric levels and the Heartwarder template. My type is changed to Fey, and I have a constitution score of 8. Is the Bat swarm going to be Fey, have low hitpoints and HD?

Base Classes / Invocation progression?
« on: January 08, 2011, 05:44:36 PM »
Cool, thanks. I noticed epic feats include extra invocation 'slots' also.

I much prefer this invocation list over the one they chose for NWN2. Warlocks felt more like funky spellcasters in that game. This is altogether darker. B)

Good job on emulating the PNP so well. :)

Base Classes / Invocation progression?

How many invocations do you end up getting for each invocation-tier, and how do the numbers progress as you level? I am guessing that the table used in NWN2 doesn't apply, since even the spells are different there.

I looked on the SRD for a invocation progression table of some kind, other sites too, but I couldn't find anything. I checked Complete Arcane too, but all I found out there is that the total number (may) be twelve. Nothing about progression. Can anyone tell me instead?

Thanks. :)

It's funny, before the PRC I just took most of the technical details for granted. I got high level & high attributes, so spells just worked. It's the PRC that made me think a lot more about prestige classes, game mechanics, D&D lore.. I've even sought out source books to learn more about classes, feats and spells (even though they weren't always in the PRC, they're just interesting to read).

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding something fairly.. elementary.

Many spells, invocations, etc. say that, in order for the target to survive or negate part of the effects, he must make a fortitude/will/reflex save. Sometimes the nature of the DC is explained, for example 1/2 caster level + wisdom modifier, or something similar.

Most of the time it is not. When the description simply says "enemy must make a will save, or become <effect>" and nothing else, what should I assume about the DC of this save? Is it Caster level? Caster's own will/fortitude/reflex?  Charisma/Int/Dex/Wisdom  modifier?
