Thank you for the response; I really appreciate it.

I actually looked into your Eternal Mind Thayer build, but it was a little more in depth than what I was looking for, what with the need to switch races with PRC Leto and whatnot. Ultimately I ended up stumbling on that PrC: Lich thread, and was rather fond of Strat's "Divine Undead Alhoon" build, though it required some modifications to make modern. (Namely, Hospitaler requires Ride 5 now).

One issue I've been having, however, is that my Illithid seems to make 3 attacks per round at level 1. This is, for obvious reasons, very potent, and I believe it's a bug. I found one thread of another user detailing this issue, but found no solution.

Thank you again for replying. I know this forum is rather ancient and I genuinely wasn't expecting to see anyone else posting here.

Good evening, all.

I'm looking to create a character using the Lich Template Class. I think I want to play an Illithid if possible, and start as a Wizard ideally. What other classes could I mix in, and what would the level spread look like? For example, Wizard 25/Archmage 5/Lich 10.

Additionally, if possible, I'd like feat and spell suggestions. I'm really not experienced with making casters, especially not with the PRC, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: So playing an Illithid naturally (as in, from lv1 upwards) seems to require me to take 8 levels in the Abberation monster class before I can continue to level up Wizard. This is not something I'm interested in doing, so it looks like Illithid isn't the answer for me.

With that said, I'm looking at Human (boring, I know) and that opens up the possibility of Red Wizard of Thay. I have no idea how many levels of that to mix in or what to take as my second forbidden school of magic, however. Any advice in that regard would be equally helpful.

I know Wizard/Shadow Adept/Lich is also a possibility, but I'm quite charmed with the idea of RWoT jacking up spell DC so high that I become a "save or die" caster for non-death immune enemies. Right now I'm thinking Wizard 5/Red Wizard 25/Lich 10 is the best move I can make. The only thing I'm 100% certain of is that I want to take Lich to 10, and I don't think I want to use Dread Necromancer because it closes out at 20 and uses its own Lich template.
