I just installed the PRC and when I tried to create a new character, the new races did not appear and the new base classes appeared but were not avaliable for choosing. Is it possible that something went wrong in the installation or is it a bug? Is there a way to fix it? I also tried the character creator but it had the same problems, although I managed to fix the race part of the character crator, the classes problem remains. Once again is there a way to fix it? Or it's suposed to be like that?

You have to use the Java Character Creator to create characters unless you are playing a specially set up multiplayer server.  It's a lot to of content to download, but I'm stress testing the alpha version of Athas Reborn this week if you'd like to try the multiplayer part.

I'm a total newb to PRC and have an even more basic problem.

When I try to run the cc.exe it just tells me "No settings information found, please run settings.".  Then I run settings and get a screen I simply don't understand.  There's no manual, instructions, or faq of any kind to tell me what the heck I'm supposed to do either.  So what do I need to do?

Read the manual. Follow the instructions.

Check, will do.

Didn't try that first mostly because I thought the "manual" just covered the PRC material itself, as it appears to do in the online version, as opposed to covering how-to for the installers.

Thanks.

edit:  OK, well, the downloaded manual simply doesn't work at all.  I did find the instructions which I had previously overlooked in the online version here >>

http://www.nwnprc.com/nwn/index.html

However I followed the instructions in minute detail, hit "OK", and it gives me the exact same message:  "No settings information found.  Please run settings.".

You did actually make sure it was pointed at your proper NWN directory, yes? It uses the default unless you do.

OK, well, you see, if you take the "C" in "C drive", turn it around backwards and add a straight line it looks a lot like the "D" in "D drive".  :)

Let's just say that it's not a stretch for me to play 6 int barbarians.

(yes, that was it, thanks)
