So with PRC having both Ur-Priest and Mystic Theurge in it, I had the thought to combine them to try to make a dual level 9 spell caster, but am unsure which class to try to qualify for ur-priest with. Wizard seems the obvious answer, but that fort save requirement for ur-priest makes me wonder how long it would take to qualify. Something like Wizard X/Ur-Priest 2/Mystic Theurge 10 to start out with?

Generally I recommend something like Bard/Ur-Priest/Sublime Chord, since Ur-Priest builds caster level off of other classes's caster levels.

What level does this result in dual 9s at? And what would the level progression be?

It's late to get to the nines, you're mostly a bard for the first half of your life. Around level thirty is usually when you'll hit dual nines.

Strat, what are your thoughts on Archivist 5 / Wiz 5 / MT 30?

I trust Archivist is still in the base class list. That build would get dual 9's ~ L23 + Epic spells ~ level 26. With 2 Practiced Casters, dual L39 casters at L40 char, the best divine spell book in the game + best arcane spells + the Int synergy (bonus spells, much higher DC's, skill points). Would not lack for firepower, defense, healing or spell endurance.

With a Necro focus & a very high INT, that could be a handy build.

It's a very safe build, just with a slow start, especially in PRC default settings.

Is there a good way with the three class limitation in the game to get the dual 9s by level 20? So as to play it in the OC or Shadows of Undrentide -> Hordes of the underdark?

I believe there's no way to do Dual 9s in under 22-ish levels.

What then would be the fastest dual progression possible, if not hitting 9s by OC/Hordes end, then at least 7s or 8s?
