When using the character creator, all I get is a black screen where classes should be listed. If I hit the 'Recommended' button I get Fighter, but that's the only way I can select a class. I have version 1.8 of the character creator and 3.3 of the PRC, installed with the .exe installer. I had CC 1.6, but I saw another thread recommending 1.8, so I downloaded that. I downloaded something at nwvault to remove requirements from Prestige Classes and Feats before I found the PRC. It gave me 2 .2da files for my override folder called 'feat.2da' and 'classes.2da', as well as the 'NoRestrictions.hak' in my hak file. I'm using the default file address (C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\) and I'm running windows XP. I feel like I'm going into too much detail, but the rules said to give as much info as possible, so I did. Oh, and when I remove all of the files from the No Requirements thing, the character creator won't open at all. I get to the menu with the four buttons (Create Character, Settings, Credits, Exit), but when I click create character it says "Loading Dialog.TLK...", but when the little progress bar disappears, nothing pops up.

You have to tell CC which haks to use. Have you read the manual?
http://www.nwnprc.com/manual/english/content/installation/jcc.htm

In the basic setup (described in manual) CC will ignore any files in override folder...

Wow, I can't believe I didn't figure out how to do the settings. Unfortunately, I still can't select a class. Same thing, none of them show up. I did exactly what the link you gave me said. I'm probably missing something else that should be really obvious. Even when I tried to make a fighter, it froze when I clicked on Alignment. Sorry if this is in the manual, I didn't know how to find anything in all those html files.

Ok, so you have latest JavaCC (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Other.Detail&id=1435) and PRC 3.3...

If you setup everything correctly (right NWN path, haks, custom tlk) then I have no idea what's wrong...
Could you make some screenshots, maybe?

I don't know how to take screenshots, unfortunately. Everything seems to work fine until I click class, and then window with the two black boxes comes up. The bigger box on the right shows the explanation of what a class is, but the smaller one on the left has absolutely nothing in it. Clicking it does nothing, and as I said the only way to choose a class is to click 'Recommended', and then I can't de-select the Fighter. Then, when I click Okay, it seems fine until I click on Alignment. The button goes down, then back up, but then nothing but the close and minimize buttons respond. I'm sure I have the right versions and the only difference between my directories and the manual is that there's no Games folder in mine, it's just C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\hak. I have Java 6.29, if that matters.

That's weird, I reinstalled the PRC and the CC worked fine. Yet another thing I should've already tried. It seems I've wasted your time. My apologies for that, and my thanks for finally giving me the chance to play an initiator. I've been wanting to do that for a long time in a real-life DnD game, but this'll work.
