No clue what Im doing

Ok Ive searched the forum for a few of my issues but to be honest I have no clue what I'm doing. I will now list the problems:

1. I have installed the character creator but when I try to select a race it gives me a few relevant choices such as pixie or bugbear but then it gives me a bunch of choices such as the beginning dialog of the Neverwinter Nights module I.E. Dester: This was a mistake Fen fick (or whoever I dont pay attention to the dialog much)...etc.

2. when I move to the portrait button in the character creator it gives me a fatal error must create portrait file in NVN folder

3. Inside the game: when choosing a race I understand I have to do it on the character creator but since the error I cant get to the race. Am I suppose to choose the race in the game?

4. In game I can see all the new classes (an impressive list btw) but I cannot access them at all. I understand that they need to be accessed via the character creator but why are they in the game?

Ok so these are my problems. I'm also looking for a smaller version of the manual which I am also wondering would help me solve these problems.

1. check if you have prc_consortium.tlk file as a custom tlk in character creator settings (manual: Installation/Java CC Guide)

2. no clue

3. you can't choose new races in-game (engine limitation - use character creator)

4. you can't choose new base classes at 1st level (while creating new character) (engine limitation).

Ok everything worked so far.

The fatal error message is as follows exactly:
Fatal Error- No Portraits directory Please create a new Portraits directory in your NWN directory

maybe try to create that directory

ie. if your game dir is c:\nwn, than create c:\nwn\portraits dir
