Notes:
1) Consider manually adjusting Int (ModINT) for skill points. Skill points may not include Lich Int bonuses.
2) Consider manually adjusting Cha (ModCHA) if Epic Divine feats not available
3) EWFocus was not available in 3.3A2 w/War domain WFoc. Armor Skin taken instead.
4) Can only cast Deadeye Sense < = L39. L40 does not have xp to spare. L39 bic was loaded but took Lich at L39 per build.
5) All Epic Spells acquired but one. Herculean Alliance never would acquire properly.
6) The Unseen Wanderer was not accessible with Nobility domain, but worked for Elf.

For low magic (item) worlds, the same build is included, but War and Elf domains (Point Blank Shot and True Strike [no extended True Strike = f-off, Bioware!]) were taken. Elf (v. Nobility) loses Greater Heroism (+4), but gains a significant number of additional True Strikes.
That is not dead which can eternal lie.
And with strange aeons even death may die.

The vigilant lich is the ultimate survivor. Alert, persuasive and Amazingly tough there are few situtations indeed that they cannot deal with. Due to their vigilant training they vary a lot. Some study magic like a typical lich, others accumulate knowledge or treasures. The one called 'Hand of Fate' watches, and influences, the rise and fall of empires.

Race: Half-Drow
Alignment: True Neutral
HP: 919 (max 1024)
AC: 19
Strength: 24 (raised from starting value of 14)
Dexterity: 10
Constitution: 30 (14 base + Great Constitution IV + Lichdom )
Intelligence: 14 (12 + Lichdom)
Wisdom: 18 (16 + Lichdom)
Charisma: 12 (10 + Lichdom)
Attack Bonus: +34/+29/+24/+19
Domains: Knowledge/Protection

Progression:

lv1-7: Cleric. Make sure you take Track and Endurance feats as well as getting 4 ranks in lore, 5 ranks in persuade and 5 ranks in listen.

lv8-16: Vigilant

lv17-20: Cleric. Take Craft Wondrous Item feat.

lv21-25: Lich

lv26+ Vigilant.

Notable feats: Great Constitution IV, Epic Toughness V, Favoured Enemy: Undead, Weapon Proficiency: Martial and Exotic.

Features: Haste 3/day, Summon Lich/Summon Skeleton Chiefton, Protection Domain power, Fear Aura, Lich Touch, Cleric Spellcasting up to lv6 spells, Immunity to cold and electricity, 15/+1 Damage resistance, ability to wield all types of weapons and wear all types of armour.

My thoughts on the build:

Like I implied at the beginning of the post you could build a vigilant/lich in a lot of different ways. I just did it this way because I was in a world domination mood :E. I did originally try it with a ranger (I'm still undecided whether I should have had a hawk companion named eye of fate or a rat companion named pinky) but I couldn't get lich to enable even though I took it up to 22 ranger.

The main disadvantages with the way I built 'Hand of Fate' is probably the lack of offense. lv6 cleric spells with no attack focused feats and the lack of BAB from the cleric and lich levels may mean you're ridiculed by bob the ogre weapon master/vigilant (well, until he steps into your fear aura )

Oh and sorry for any spelling mistakes or general wierdness, I'm a bit tired.

Wizard 28/Lich 10/Iaijutsu Master 2

Go straight wizard until level 18, and then take your 2 iaijutsu master levels in order to gain the int AC bonus and 3 attacks per round. Take your lich levels AFTER you reach character level 20 or the no BAB progression of the lich will kill you. When I created this character, and took my lich levels in epic levels, I gained the 1/2 BAB progression that all epic characters get, but I believe this is a glitch. Using practised spellcaster and spell penetration feats, this character is a very powerful wizard with a caster level of 32 and access to epic spells. The 3 attacks per round and katana finess bonuses mean that character is a potent build for a player wishing to create a "melee mage" that uses the plethora of wizard buffs to become a decent melee combatant. The high AC from combined dex and wis, and the insane defensive abilities of the lich means that you will not die easily.

Pros:

- Immunity to level 0-9 spells.
- Damage Reduction 30/+20
- Damage Resistance 20 to acid, fire, and sonic
- Turn Resistance +20
- Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma +10
- Hide, Listen, Move Silently, Search, Persuade, and Spot +20
- 3 attacks per round and no BAB penalty from being a lich (due to the glitch with taking lich levels post epic)
- Dex bonus to AB when using a Katana
- Int bonus to AC when not wearing armor

Cons:

- Not as powerful spellcasting power as a level 40 wizard
- Powerful melee attacks compared to other melee mages, but not comperable to builds with higher BAB
- Low HP
- Lich bonuses to int/wiz/cha count towards the cap on ability score bonuses, so in high magic worlds where you can easily get +12 to each stat, the bonuses are worthless except for saving money on gear.
- Must pay exp and gold to create the items neccessary for lich levels.

Note: When I created this character using an autoleveller module, I choose the option that levelled you to 40 and gave the "appropriate" amount of gold for a level 40 char, and after spending the gold and exp on the lich items, I could only reach level 38, but had hardly a dent in my wallet. So the exp cost of the lich items is equivalent to the exp needed to reach levels 39 and 40.

I've been tooling out a build that was mentioned in the first thread very basically, a Fighter/Cleric/Lich combo.

'The Stultifying Munchkin'
Fighter 4/Cleric 26/(Demi)Lich 10

Race: Rakshasa or other high stat race (I figure, we're already in the realm of that which is at an ungodly level of munchkinness, why not?)
Alignment: Any evil

CON: 8+6=14 +2

L29: Cleric (21): Just Skills
Skills to max during Lich Levels: Lore, Spellcraft

L38: Cleric (24): Just Skills
L39: Cleric (25): Feat - Epic Skill Focus: Spellcraft
L40: Cleric (26): STR +1, Cleric Bonus Feat - Armour Skin

This build blends impressive melee ability with surprisingly decent spellcasting ability (at least when it comes to buffing). With the Strength and War domain powers activated, and Divine Might, and the spell Mantle of Egregious Might, this character becomes a potent force of death indeed. Again, see why munchkinism causes problems?

Other options for this build include subbing out the skill focuses for more melee oriented feats, as I tried to balance this build a bit more in between, and so I could have some epic spells.

I'll do some stat-verifying tomorrow and see just how it stacks up in regards to what exactly it can do. Also, I'm working on fleshing out another build mentioned in the first thread, sort of. A Druid 20/Ocular Adept 10/Oozemaster 10.

Hello, this is my 1st character submission here so please let me know if I make any mistakes in theory or calculations. This class is very cheesy but might be a lot of fun for PvP against other cheesy builds.

EDIT: I made a critical error in the original build. If using a cleric-shifter you will not be able to select the "Natural Spell" feat. Unfortunately however, a druid does not qualify for the lich class... which means that this entire build will suffer from not being able to cast while shifted. This reduces the power of the build a bit so please keep that in mind.

COPYCAT LICH

Cleric 19 / Lich 10 / Shifter (PnP) 11

Race: Illithid
Alignment: Chaotic Evil

I initially wanted a *playable highly defensive caster that can withstand both spell and melee attacks. What I got is a cheesy overpowered build that just shouldn't be allowed.

The advantages to this class combination are many. First and foremost, your cleric spell synergize very well with (PnP) shifted shapes. Second, you will get level 9 cleric spells with tons of spell slots that cannot be dispelled or removed accidentally by shape shifting. Third, you will be arguably one of the games best self reliant tanks with plenty of hit points, high AC which can be even higher with combat expertise, high resistances, and extreme damage-soaking abilities (Time domain helps with this). Forth, you will do formidable melee damage with 3 attacks per round (4 with Divine Power but its temporary) at high AB’s once self buffed. No one will confuse you with melee classes (unless you use Divine Power) but your survivability allows you to continue melee while other melee classes might have died. Fifth, adaptability… This character can adapt to any situation by simply changing shapes, and he has innate access to all the shapes he will ever need through the shifter class and cleric summoning spells. Lastly… the cheese factor. You will have the potential to be absolutely, invincibly, godly if you can find the right shape to shift into… say a chromatic dragon for example which will pretty much make you the bane of a game being able to buff yourself then shift into dragon form with a buffed AC of about 100, immunities to almost everything, and melee damage potential that will rival melee character builds not to mention an unlimited amount of dragon breath attacks just for shits and giggles to replace any need for offensive spellcasting. But wait we are not done yet.

This build allows you a lot of flexibility in terms of skills. Hide, Listen, Search, & Spot will all be between 30 and 40 without you having to invest a single point into them due to Lich bonuses and shifted shapes so that leaves you with 346 skill points to distribute in other stuff… This means you can max out concentration, spellcraft, lore, animal empathy, & take about 30 points into persuade (lich will give you a bonus to persuade later) and still have 150 points left over for optional skills. I recommend taking tumble to 20 for the AC bonus, and maybe maxing out Discipline to help avoid knockdown. That sill leaves about 70 points to play with and being immune to critical hits and sneak attacks means you don't need to worry about topping off spot, listen, or search. You may want to look into crafting, disable traps, open locks, truespeak (although I still don't understand how to use it) and maybe even Parry since it’s a class skill (you need to rethink some stuff if you want to use parry however).

This class is also very feat INdependent. The use of wildshape allows you to take shapes that grant most of the needed melee feats you might otherwise have to pick up like weapon specializations, cleave, great cleave, knockdown, and power attack. Some even have toughness but I recommend taking that anyway because it’s always useful. This means that you can concentrate almost fully on spell casting feats to improve your cleric spells, resistances, and maybe even crafting.

Initial Class: Cleric

Base Attack 24
3 Attacks @ 32/27/22 (22/17/12 with improved Expertise. Preference for casting)
+Lich Bonuses and Immunities (See below for full list)

LEVEL 40 STATS (while shifted, buffed and equipped with non-magic items)

Shifted into Cloud Dragon after summoning one using Cleric Level 9: Dragon Cloud
Note: this is not an optimal shape due to how crappy this dragon is. Some outsider shapes using level 9 summon outsider are better, but these are the stats I wrote down for this one.

Using normal non-epic level buffs and a plain unenchanted rapier.

Str 32
Dex 24
Con 34
Int 34
Wis 32
Cha 30

AC 40 (50 with improved Expertise!)
HP 672 (this didn’t change, I am not sure why)
Fort 30
Ref 25
Will 31
Sp Res 64

3 Attacks @ 46/41/36
2d12 (18-20) (critical range due to rapier in main hand)
1d6+10 Fire Damage (from Darkfire cleric spell. Awesome!)
+5 Piercing (not sure where this is from)

Dragon Shape Feats: Cleave, Great Cleave, Knockdown, Power Attack
Dragon Shape Attacks: 3x Breathe Lightning

Immunities: Spells level 0-9, Cold, Electric, Fire (changeable from spell), Poison, Paralysis, Mind Spell, Ability Decrease, Negative Level, Disease, Death Magic, Sneak Attack, Critical Hits

Other Effects: Damage Reduction 30/5 (from Premonition up to 220 HP’s), Darkvision, Ultravision, Undetectable Alignment, Fear Aura

OTHER OPTIONS

Races: Although any race will do, look into Rakshasa, or Pixie which would allow you to replace Animal Domain with something useful like war domain perhaps, or Avariel would be a less "cheesy" selection and comes with a better selection of weapons and will allow you to level much faster due to its class preference or Drow Female for the same reason. I am currently playing through the game with Avariel and its working out fine. I replaced Time domain with War and took Weapon Focus Rapier for better AB since the OC has items with Haste. I will probably miss Premonition but it is not needed in single player games anyway.

Cleric Domains: You must select Animal domain if don’t take Pixie as your race! Pick any that grant abilities and spells that you normally do not get from one of your classes or shapes. I recommend Fire (good spells), Fate (Uncanny Dodge feat & Premonition), Protection (good spells), Retribution (Death Armor and Elemental Shield will help you kill things that you cannot melee or cast on using the porcupine method), Time (Excellent spells includes Haste & Premonition), Tyranny (Bigby's Grasping Hand not bad with your Str while shifted otherwise crappy), War (free weapon focus & Mantle of Egregious Might for even more stat and resist goodness).

Starting Stats: Since you will be shifted all the time, it’s pointless to push any one stat too high while ignoring others. The mechanics of Shifter (PnP) are very different than the original shifter, which simply overrides stats. In the PnP version it is best to balance important stats across the board and it is just as well because this build uses all your stats one way or another. Also note that the Lich class will eventually grant you a bonus of +12 to Con, and +10 to Int/Wis/Cha and those bonuses will indeed stack in any shifted form so don't worry about those stats! I highly recommend pumping strength as you level since it will make a huge difference in melee (and convenience) when using a high strength shape. If you don't want to use heavy armor, then consider pumping Dex but why waste the Heavy Armor feat if you got it?

Class Progression: First, the use of shifter classes will depend heavily on the race you selected. If you selected a none-cheesy race, then take at least 1 level early and shapeshift into something with better stats. If you took Illithid or some other high stat race, then wait till after level 17 to start taking shifter levels since shape shifting into humanoids will only decrease your stats. You will also not have access to the best shapes until your cleric can summon them so might as well level cleric before shifter.
I strongly recommend holding off on Lich till after level 21 for three reasons. One, the Lich class on its own, sucks hard early in the game since it grants no AB’s (pre-epic levels) and no spell progression. Two, you will need a butt load of money and experience to get the Lich bonuses which will be easier to get later in the game. And three, you cannot progress past level 4 in Lich until you are an epic Cleric anyway so it would be a waste to get levels before then considering the multiclass XP penalty.
As for skills, the only real requirements are Concentration for your spell casting, Spellcraft for Practiced Spellcaster Feat, and some Persuade for RP purposes. I am not 100% sure, but I think you also need Lore for epic level spells but that may have been spellcraft. Not sure about that one.

JUST FOR GIGGLES

LEVEL 40 STATS

-Long duration(2hr+) buffed, with end game items, & shifted into Chromatic Dragon
-Using normal non-epic level buffs and a plain none-magical mace.

Requirements: you need to actually target a Chromatic Dragon at some point in order to shift into one. Not all games will have one to target.

Str 36
Dex 12
Con 41
Int 32
Wis 30
Cha 28

AC 92 (102 with improved Expertise! lol)
HP 968 (hehe)
Fort 30
Ref 25
Will 31
Sp Res 32 (this actually decreased somehow but who cares)

3 Attacks @ 48/43/38 (48/43/38/33 with Divine Power)
4d24+10
1d6+10 Fire Damage (from Darkfire cleric spell. Awesome!)
+9 Bludgeoning (not sure where this is from)

That’s basically a damage range of 34-131 per hit x the number of hits in a round assuming no damage reduction of some kind... If you hit all 4 times (assuming Divine Power here) that’s a potential of 136-524 per round!!! And if that’s not enough, grab an enchanted weapon with a high threat range and cast haste on yourself for some retarded melee output that will allow you to score hits of over 250 on a critical. Hasted and with a decent keen weapon, you will have a potential of 190-725 + critical hit damage per round. On average you will do about 550 damage per round if you hit on every attack! Eat your heart our fighters.

Dragon Shape Feats: Cleave, Great Cleave, Knockdown, Power Attack, Damage Reduction… something didn’t write it down. Elemental resistances… didn’t write them down either.

Dragon Shape Attacks: Unlimited Prismatic Breath, 1x Web, 3x something else…

Immunities: Spells level 0-9, Cold, Electric, Fire (changeable from spell), Poison, Paralysis, Mind Spell, Ability Decrease, Negative Level, Disease, Death Magic, Sneak Attack, Critical Hits

Other Effects: Damage Reduction 30/5 (from Premonition up to 220 HP’s), Darkvision, Ultravision, Undetectable Alignment, Fear Aura

All that and the shape is permanent and he can still cast level 9 druid spells if he still can’t hit something.

Notes:

1) Note that PRC blocks monk kama attacks from working with TWF chain.
2) Went LG to get Intuitive Attack (uses Wis v. Str to att). Focused on Wis (instead of Dex + Wep Finesse) due to lich mods.
3) To get more AB for ranged attacks, swap Zen Archery for Imp. Expertise
4) To avoid Smites, change Wis mods to Dex and switch IntuitiveAttack to Wep Finesse
5) LG vulnerable to smites – although very hard to hit
6) Max displayed AC is 126 – the 8 from Tumble is not included
7) Domain notes: A) Chose attack buff domains: War (Mantle o’ Egr Might), Nobility (Gr. Heroism) B) True Strike accessible thru Elf domain C) Plant domain gives access to Creeping Doom
8) 5 att / round UBAB, 6 / rnd Flurry: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Flurry_of_blows , 7 / rnd hasted Flurry, 8 / round hasted Flurry + Div Power
9) Con must be modified by console (DebugMode=1, then ModCON 5, ModCON 12 at L24) to access Fast Heals
10) Used ModWIS, ModINT, ModCHA 10 for lich abilities – becoming a lich is a one way trip.
11) Unearthly Grace save skin borked with lich mods & Cha items. Used dm_modifysave command to add 19 to each save (adjusted Unearthly Grace Cha mod)
12) Make max buff save v. Maximized Undeath-to-Death by max ability Mind Thayer Necro 95% of the time. Lich vulnerable to Und-to-Death?
13) Download the Alignment changer: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=7206 - Files
14) Copy extracted gn* files to the override directory
15) ~, then DebugMode=1; dm_spawnitem gnam_1; pick up the spawned item
16) DebugMode=0; Use NAM; if it doesn’t work, ~ dm_runscript gnam_1_manually

Enjoy.

Conc: 43, Discipline: 42, Lore: 43, S-craft: 43, Tumble: 21, Your choice: 17

Notes:
1) Chose Acid for Fav Soul immunity because Mestil’s Acid Sheath is (d6 + 2 / caster Lev)  per strike
2) Used ModWIS, ModINT, ModCHA 10 for lich abilities – becoming a lich is a one way trip.
3) Con must be modified by console (DebugMode=1, then ModCON 5 at L21, ModCON 12 at L22) to access Fast Heals
4) Cha must be modified by console (DebugMode=1, ModCha 8 at L30) to access EDM, EDS chains
5) TWRend chosen over EDR I, Armor Skin, as the build does not lack defense. TWRend gives an extra d6 + 1.5 Str mod (15 to 24) + weapon enhancements (~ +10 HotU max) if both weapons hit the same opp in one round.
6) Chose Fast Heal chain over Epic Damage Redux (EDR) because EDR is available from items
7) Prac Cast could be swapped out for another Fast Heal, if you aren’t much for casters
8) Summon Undead chains are worthless due to unlimited undead creation / summon. Be sure to avoid.
9) In order to stay Neutral after Soul gem use, use the NWN Alignment Manager (aka NAM): http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=7206 - Files
10) Copy extracted gn* files to the override directory
11) ~, then DebugMode=1; dm_spawnitem gnam_1; pick up the spawned item
