Wow I did not realize MoS was full BAB! I am gonna do a 2.0 build for this one using that as a direct swap-in. Only thing you would really lose is 2 net feats and have to swap one of the domains for protection - which sucks a little but then you get evil and death for free so that makes up for it!

Regarding implosion, I am with you on all that minus one thing - implosion ignores death immunity. In this build, devcrit deals with almost anything that isn’t undead/construct. Those racial types also have death immunity almost 100% of the time. That is where implosion shines; but yes, against anything non-death immune, wail is superior. But with MoS I can have both! And a bunch of minions too!

Are their summons permanent?

Agree that crit immune can spoil almost any 1D uber damage build. I prefer very high probability damage over conditional / situational types. I don't believe in sneaks, either. The idea that a non-magical class can hide in the shadows and deal massive damage to someone right next to them? Not a fan.

Can't wait to see it, but no hurries.

Creep Doom + Chill Tentacles FTW. Can reduce an army to nothing in no time flat. Especially in later rounds. Sux that Chill Tent is so short duration.

I hated the short range of Implosion vs Wail. You get Death domain free from MoS and I used Wail instead. Implosion text said 'Medium' - but seemed very small in application. Wail all day every day.

The beauty of the MoS is massive numbers of epic casters at high level. You get several extra domains, extra turning, +1 caster level, full BAB, massive summons (requires high MoS level). If you haven't already, try MoS - it puts Hospitaler completely in the shade.

Eternal Undead Master (EUM) and Volrath's Undead Overlord (VUO) are MoS builds:

VUO was able to heal the summons with Path of Shadow (party), but the range was pretty short. Casting 'Unliving Weapon' on them was a lot of fun.

Most of the updates coming now are Strat, Jaysyn/DM Heatstroke and me. You probably know them if you have been around a while. I’m the new guy. I remember playing way back in the day when it first came out, but left it alone for like 15+ years and just came back recently. About two months ago I realized I loved scripting! :)

You should come by the discord, that is where most the development traffic is these days. I’m sure the veterans would love to hear from you!

Problem with that smite build is that it puts all its eggs in one basket and requires luck (scythe) and a lot of use-limited buffing to pull that off. And even smite is severely use-limited. Seems more like a thought experiment on how to do the biggest single hit ever. I think that if I took that build into a tough module like Swordflight it would be great for a few monsters which I would annihilate, but then the 50th monster when I have no smites and I can’t get them back because of extreme rest restrictions is gonna be a lot tougher. The build I made can do that enormous damage every round forever with very little variation, and that number I posted is an average not a max.

Suppose I should probably get it together and post it already!!

Character Builds / Re: Build: Warlock 25/Blackguard 5/Shifter (PnP) 10 (Rake)

That’s too bad we can’t do that anymore!

Speaking of warlocks and creeping doom, with the verminlord feat Warlock can cast creeping doom at-will. And it only requires two invocations as prereqs unlike the other epic feats that take 4. But tentacles and creeping doom is ridiculous. Plus, since creeping doom is at-will, I think you can even stack it…

I’ll have to look into MoS, I planned on doing a True Necromancer build at some point so I should get into the toolset and explore which class has better summons. Necrocarnate gets the same set as True Necro and they get crazy at epic levels. The final one at MSL 37 is an absolute beast.

Creeping Doom is great, but nothing can make a save against this guy anyhow (implosion DC is like 54-56 maxed out). So I just drop implosions or devcrit things that aren’t crit immune. Personally, I have a strong dislike for vancian spellcasting. Or anything itemized/finite for that matter, so most my builds tend to not rely too much on anything that is times/day.

I hate that there is masochism but no sadism, sadism was awesome in PnP. I always take masochism when I am able but then never use it. I’ll have to check if it is bugged and fix it if it is now that you mention that. And regarding lolth’s meat you have to go by the damage number, it always displays +1 on the character sheet. But the damage is divine, so it is real easy to see. I think 50 (100 on a crit) is the highest I’ve got it.

The Masochism spell was something I tried to get going for low AC / retribution builds, but it didn't work that I could tell. Can you see the Lolth's meat buffs on the stat sheet or can you tell it's working by the damage values?

Quick one on the build: I would go for Plant domain to get Creeping Doom at 7th. You can get it extended at L8 slot. No SR / no save up to 1k hp.

Recommend comparing Master of Shrouds to Hospitaler.

MoS summons are epic, as in Epic casters with respectable hp. With the right AI, the Spectres could be game changers. You also get extra Turning and extra domains. MoS is worth a look, if it hasn't been deleted.
